President (Term: 2024-2026)

Ana Diamand

As a highly ethical and organized professional, I bring comprehensive expertise in administrative duties, library administration, purchasing, inventory control, and budgetary management across diverse settings. My core strengths are policy drafting, delivering exceptional customer service, and cultivating robust professional relationships. I am dedicated to continual growth and development and am proficient in Microsoft Office, Libguides, Springshare, Canvas (LMS), research databases, and library circulation systems.

Acknowledged for a robust work ethic and a consistent track record of accomplishments, I have earned numerous awards for customer service while actively participating in various college committees. In my role as Assistant Librarian at Lake-Sumter State College, I collaborate seamlessly with the Lake County library staff, offering reference/circulation services and embedded course instruction. Responsibilities encompass crafting instructional materials, facilitating virtual courses, and contributing to several committees, including co-chairing the College's QEP, emphasizing Information Literacy, and teaching student life and internet research courses.

My leadership extends to chairing the FACRL virtual conference committee, steering planning, coordination, marketing, and delivering the FACRL Annual Conference program in 2022 and 2023. Additionally, I serve as a board liaison, spearheading marketing and communication initiatives to foster dialogues among academic librarians and advocate the benefits of association membership.

Academically, I hold a Master's in Library and Information Studies, specializing in School Library Media from the University of Rhode Island. Augmenting my education, I am certified in Instructional Design, Canvas Education, Quality Matters Peer Review, and Sunshine State Leadership Institution. My commitment to continuous learning underscores my dedication to leveraging expertise to enhance organizational development and student success.

President-Elect (Term: 2024-2027)

MacArthur Campus Library at Florida Atlantic University’s Jupiter campus where she oversees all aspects of the library’s operation.  She is active in mentoring students, as well as leadership and library outreach.  Her publications include articles on library collaboration with marine mammal stranding networks and conflict management within libraries.  She co-authored a book about the importance of library book clubs as educational tools for adults with intellectual disabilities titled, Libraries and Reading: Intellectual Disability and the Extent of Library Diversity.  She has presented at both national and international conferences on this topic. She has served on and chaired committees for ALA’s New Members RoundTable. In addition, she has served on and chaired committees for the Florida Library Association. Most recently she served on and chaired the FACRL Virtual Logistics Conference Planning Committee. Ms. Plocharczyk would welcome the leadership opportunity to serve on the FACRL Board as President-Elect as she is interested in participating in governance at the state level and looks forward to advocating for the library profession with colleagues statewide. Ms. Plocharczyk’s interests include providing literacy and socialization opportunities to underrepresented students.  In 2020, Ms. Plocharczyk earned ALA’s “I Love My Librarian” award for her work and service to marginalized populations and students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer (Term: 2024-2026)

Alejandra Rodriguez (Term: 2024-2026)

I'm Alejandra Rodriguez, a LIRN (Library and Information Resources Network) Librarian. Before arriving at LIRN in 2023, I was an Adult Services Librarian and Reference Librarian from 2019. I was a member of FLA's DEIA committee from the time it began as a task force in 2020 until 2023. This was an exciting project, as we developed the DEIA committee and took on tasks to further the importance of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. I strive to always look at any role that I'm in from a DEIA lens and to educate my colleagues on the importance of DEIA. I look forward to fulfilling my service to Florida libraries by becoming a FACRL Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

Board Members At Large (Term: 2024-2026)

Diana Matthews (North)

Hi everyone! My name is Diana Matthews and I have been a reference and instruction librarian at Santa Fe College for 15 years. I have served on the FACRL Conference Program Committee for four years and have served on the FACRL Board for one term. I bring a unique voice to the Board as a community college librarian and would like to continue to serve in this capacity for another term.

As a community college librarian, I have a wide range of responsibilities, including providing reference services and instructional sessions, participating in collection development, teaching a 1-credit LIS course, and serving as my library's de facto instructional design librarian, taking charge of video tutorials, guides, and other instructional materials. I work closely with my institution's Disabilities Resource Center and have a strong interest in accessibility and universal design. I have cataloging experience and have added cataloging duties to my plate while we hired a new cataloger. I also serve as the chair for the Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC) User Interfaces Standing Committee, which addresses usability and accessibility issues in search interfaces common to the 40 state institutions. I am currently the Presiding Officer of my College Senate, setting agendas and running meetings, which has provided a unique view of shared governance and faculty/staff views on numerous issues and which I bring to my role as Board member.

We are in interesting times and the FACRL Board will have to respond to numerous challenges and situations in the next few years. I feel confident in our ability to navigate through future situations and look forward to continuing to serve for the betterment of academic librarians in Florida.
