2026 FACRL Board Elections 

The FACRL election for Board Officers and Board Members-at-Large opens on Monday, March 30 and closes on Wednesday, April 15. Many thanks to all our nominees for their willingness to stand for election and to all members for their thoughtful consideration of each candidate.

Current positions up for election include: 

  • Vice-President/President-Elect (2026-2029)
  • Secretary (2026-2028)
  • Treasurer (2026-2029)
  • Engagement Officer (2026-2028)
  • Northern Zone (2026-2028)*
  • Southern Zone (2026-2028)*

* Board Member at Large, 2 vacancies. Board members will be selected to represent specific regions of Florida (north, central, and south). This year, vacancies are for the Northern and Southern zones. Next year, there will be vacancies in all three of the region zones. Check the zone map for details. 

Please note: only ACRL/FACRL members with active membership status are eligible to vote.

Active members will receive the election ballot and link to vote via email on March 30If you do not receive an email and are a current ACRL/FACRL member, please contact usVoting will close on Wednesday, April 15.

President-Elect (2026-2029)

The president-elect shall serve for the first year after election as president-elect, the second year as president, and the third year as immediate past-president and as chairperson of the Nominating Committee. The president-elect shall assume the duties of the president in their absence or should a vacancy occur in that office.

President-Elect Nominees:

Katy Webb

Katy Webb (she/her) has been serving as the Betty Drees Johnson Dean of the Library and Learning Technologies at Stetson University’s duPont-Ball Library since July 2024. She received her MLIS degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011. After serving as the Head of Research and Instructional Services at East Carolina University, she accepted the Director of Yale Access Services and Bass Library position at Yale University in 2020. Katy received a Fulbright Specialist grant that took her to Leiden, the Netherlands. Her research interests include library space usage, library labs, student employee engagement, how libraries can contribute to the High Impact Practices for Student Success (HIPs), and mindfulness, yoga, and burnout in libraries. Secretary (2026-2028)

The secretary shall record the proceedings of all business meetings of the Chapter. The secretary shall maintain the Chapter's archives.

Secretary Nominees:


Stacey Ewing

Stacey Ewing is an Associate University Librarian and Chair of the Humanities and Social Sciences Library West branch of the George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida, a role she has held since 2019. She has been a librarian at UF since 2004, previously serving as Library West Associate Chair and InfoCommons Librarian, as well as Director of the Visual Resources Center in the UF College of the Arts.

She holds an M.S. in Information Science from the University of North Texas. Her scholarship and grant work focus on technologies that support teaching, learning, and research, as well as accessibility services that promote student success. She currently serves as secretary for the FLVC User Interfaces Standing Committee and the UF University Information Technology Committee. She enjoys behind-the-scenes work that helps support organizational success and transparent communication.


Elida Velado Salazar

Elida Velado Salazar is the first-year experience librarian for the Learning Commons at the University of Miami Libraries. In this role, Elida provides consultative and instructional services to undergraduate students, coordinates programming with Learning Commons partners, and supports first-year direction courses. She also serves as the library’s lead liaison for the Platform for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (PETAL) at the University of Miami. Elida previously worked at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she served as a research and instruction librarian, supporting student engagement through tailored instruction and reference solutions. Elida holds a master's degree in library and information science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree in public relations, advertising, and applied communications from Florida International University in Miami.

Treasurer (2026-2028)

The treasurer shall be responsible for handling the Chapter’s funds, including membership dues, the registration process for the annual fall program, keeping itemized records of receipts and expenditures, and other associated activities. The treasurer shall also serve as a member of the annual fall program planning committee.

Manuel Pasos

Manuel Pasos is the Instructional and Information Services Librarian at the University of Miami Louis Calder Memorial Medical Library in Miami, Florida. He has over 20 years of experience working in multiple roles across public and medical libraries and focuses on supporting clinicians, researchers, and students through instruction, research consultations, and evidence-based information services. He previously worked with the Miami-Dade Public Library System and holds a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Florida State University. Manuel is actively involved in professional service and initiatives that foster collaboration and professional development within the library profession. He is also a member of FACRL and has served as co-chair of the Conference Planning Committee. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid runner.


Cameron Riopelle

Cameron Riopelle is the Director of Research Data & Open Scholarship and a Librarian Associate Professor at the University of Miami Libraries. He received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2017 and his Master of Science in Statistics (concentration: Applied Statistics) from UIUC in 2015. His research interests include teaching pedagogy and research methods. He is a longtime member and former chair of the FACRL Programming Committee.

Engagement Officer (2026-2028)

The FACRL engagement officer will be responsible for evaluating the organization's current membership and advising on strategies to broaden member and leadership participation. This role will involve engaging with members to understand their experiences and ensure the Board is informed of and responsive to the perspectives and needs of our membership.

Engagement Officer Nominees:


Ann Abney

Ann Abney is the Digital Initiatives Metadata Librarian at the University of South Florida. There, she manages and oversees metadata creation for digitized archival collections and contributes to consortia such as the Biodiversity Heritage Library, the Digital Library of America, and the Digital Library of the Caribbean. Prior to this, she was the Special Projects Archivist for South Carolina Political Collections at the University of South Carolina, where she created exhibits, gave instruction sessions, and processed modern South Carolina political papers. She holds an honors BA in History from Caroll University; an MA in History and an MLS from the University of Maryland, College Park; and is currently a PhD student in History at the University of South Florida.


Lisa Campbell

Lisa Campbell (she/her) is the Learning and Engagement Librarian at the University of Florida. She focuses on creating accessible library learning experiences that actively engage students and build information and digital literacy skills. Her previous service as a FACRL Board Member and Chair of the Programming Committee has given her a strong understanding of FACRL’s work and possibilities. She hopes to collaborate with FACRL leadership to expand opportunities for research engagement.

Northern Zone (2026-2028)

The Board shall seek to have six regional representatives elected by the Chapter, as well as from various types of academic libraries. All members of the Board of Directors shall be voting members. Members of the Board of Directors shall begin and end their terms with the adjournment of the annual Florida Library Association conference. A Board member may be elected to serve up to two consecutive terms.

Northern Zone Nominees:


Brittnee Fisher

Brittnee Fisher is a librarian at St. Johns River State College with over fifteen years of experience working in academic libraries. She holds a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of West Florida, an MLIS from the University of South Florida, and a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from the University of Central Florida. Brittnee has been actively engaged in professional service and scholarship, previously serving on the editorial boards of Florida Libraries and NEFLIN’s Library Insights. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Northeast Florida Library Information Network (NEFLIN). Her professional interests include information literacy, student success, instructional design, and fostering meaningful connections between libraries and the communities they serve.


Angie Price

Angie Price is the Biological & Life Sciences Librarian at the Marston Science Library for the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. She received her MLS from the University of North Texas and her master’s degree in biology from Miami University. Before transitioning to the academic libraries, Angie worked for the Memphis Public Library system in Tennessee for nearly 7 years, holding roles ranging from children’s services library assistant to adult services librarian and cataloging manager. In addition to working in libraries, Angie previously worked in zoos and aquaria and has participated in biological fieldwork projects in a variety of U.S. states, as well as Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Costa Rica. Her current research interests include sustainability in libraries, accessible science programming, library-community partnerships, and serving neurodivergent communities in libraries.

Southern Zone (2026-2028)

Southern Zone Nominees:


Kelley Rowan

Kelley Rowan is the Digital Scholarship Librarian at Florida International University, where she manages the institutional repository, publishing faculty research and students' theses and dissertations. Ms. Rowan also works with internal and external partners in developing community collections in the digital repository. Her research interests and publications include articles, books, and chapters on decolonial metadata, privacy in the digital landscape, ethics in digital collections, and case studies in digital archive management. She regularly presents at conferences and teaches workshops on privacy, data anonymity, survey creation, and presentation skills.


Georgette E. Spratling

Georgette E. Spratling serves as Assistant Library Director at the North Miami Public Library, where she has built her entire library career since 2018. A dedicated advocate for equity in library services, she brings deep expertise in community outreach, programming for underserved populations, and library administration.

Georgette holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Florida A&M University, a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Miami, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida. She is currently a doctoral student in Library and Information Science at Simmons University, where her research examines the intersection of artificial intelligence and its impact on BIPOC and marginalized communities. A recognized leader in the profession, Georgette served as Co-Chair of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) Library Service to Underserved Children and Their Caregivers Committee and is a member of the American Library Association, the Black Caucus of the American Library Association, and the Florida Library Association.  She is a sought-after speaker at national conferences and has published widely on topics including equity, outreach, and community engagement. Georgette is pleased to bring her passion for inclusive library services to the FACRL Board.


Ximena Valdivia

Ximena Valdivia serves as a Cataloging and Metadata Librarian at Florida International University (FIU). She holds a BS in Library Science from the Metropolitan University of Technology in Santiago, Chile; an MA in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida; and an MA in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from FIU. In her position, she is responsible for providing original, complex copy cataloging; creating metadata that maximizes the discoverability of digital content; and maintaining authority control for library materials and collections, with a focus on Special Collections. Ximena is currently the co-chair of the FACRL Membership Committee.
