: A New Generation of Textbook Affordability Practices
DescriptionThis session analyzes an innovative Textbook Affordability Project that began with a team of experts who assessed faculty textbook choices, investigated alternatives that would mitigate costs to students, and made recommendations to faculty which resulted in $3.9 million of reduced costs to USF-system students in one semester.

Title: Expanding Distance Education Possibilities with Library and Center for eLearning Collaborations
DescriptionA multi-year process of collaboration between FAU’s library and Center for eLearning includes librarian participation in weekly Professional Development sessions and pedagogical training provided to librarians alongside other faculty. This session explores some of the skills, resources, and collective wisdom shared across our evolving community of practice.

Title: Clear is Kind: Strategies for Daring Leadership in the Academic Library
DescriptionWhile it can be challenging to rise up and lead a team, certain strategies can be utilized to create an atmosphere where every team member flourishes. This presentation will share information from recent literature on leadership by Brene Brown, Christine Porath, and Kim Scott. Participants will leave with practical takeaways to utilize in their daily work.

Title: Collaboration between Faculty, Instructional Design and the Library to use all OER for Curriculum Development and Delivery
DescriptionCan a collaboration between the Library and the Instructional Design Department create value for the university and student population by incorporating OER into the course development process? This presentation is a case study of one University with a large online and distributed network that tightly controls the course design process and timeline and curriculum delivered by the faculty.

: Beautiful Alchemy: How LER Enhances OER
DescriptionThis session will explore how LER (library/licensed educational materials) enhance OER (open educational resources) initiatives in higher education. Participants in this session will explore the special connection between LER and OER, and learn how academic librarians have a unique opportunity to draw from this beautiful alchemy to support broader, more inclusive, more scalable approaches to finding textbook alternatives.

Description: Librarians at the University of North Florida realized the library needed to have a presence in Canvas. This would enable students to easily transition between their coursework, and finding resources and services to support their studies.
